BRASILIA, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Two senior Chinese and Brazilian officials agreed to further promoting the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan and Brazilian Vice President Michel Temer co-hosted the second session of the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee here Monday, and reached the agreement.
Both sides agreed to further promote the two countries‘ strategic partnership by continuing to use the committee as a platform to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields.
In a bid to boost the world economic recovery, the two countries pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation in multilateral mechanisms and firmly oppose all forms of protectionism as well as avoid any moves to politicize economic issues.
The two sides vowed to make joint efforts to implement the two countries‘ Joint Action Plan and set out the formulation of a 10-year cooperation plan on economy and culture.
They promised to maintain the good momentum of the rapid growth in bilateral trade and continue to improve trade structure. They also agreed on further investment in such fields as infrastructure and emerging industries.
The two sides would also strengthen bilateral cooperation in science, technology and innovation, and deepen exchanges and cooperation in such fields as nanotechnology, biology, telecommunications and agriculture.
They agreed to maintain high-level visits and deepen political mutual trust between the two countries, as well as enhance exchanges and coordination over macro-economic policies.
They would also strenthen cooperation and information exchanges concerning cross-border supervision of their banking industries.
The two countries also reached consensus on promoting cooperation in the fields of telecommunication, software and hardware, high-tech innovation and Internet security.
Speaking at the session, Wang said since China and Brazil established diplomatic ties 38 years ago, the bilateral relationship has increasingly matured and gained strategic significance.
The successful visits of Chinese President Hu Jintao to Brazil in 2010 and of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff to China in 2011 injected vigor into the development of the bilateral strategic partnership, he said.
Wang also said the committee, as the top comprehensive cooperative mechanism between the two governments, has earnestly implemented the consensus reached by top leaders of both sides and played an important role in promoting bilateral cooperation in various fields.
In the complex international financial scenario, both countries are facing numerous challenges, he said, adding tighter cooperation is not only in the interests of both countries, but also of the world.
Both sides should take the opportunity to expand their cooperation in such sectors as commerce, investment, finance, energy resources and infrastructure construction, and seek further possibilities of cooperation in space science, technology, education, agriculture and tourism to step up practical cooperation, he said.
China and Brazil should also defend the interests of developing countries in multilateral mechanisms, such as the Group of 20, BRICS, and the World Trade Organization by enhancing coordination on major issues, he said.
Temer said Brazil would deepen the two countries‘ political mutual trust, increase bilateral trade, promote technological and cultural exchanges and enhance coordination in international and regional affairs with China in order to drive bilateral ties to a new phase.
