On the invitation by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Coordination Council, and with the recommendation of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in China, Mr. Miao Gengshu, the President of CCIIP, visited Kazakhstan from May 1 to May 6, 2011. During his visit, Mr. Miao attended the IV Astana Economic Forum, the theme of which is “New Decades: Challenges and Prospects”. Mr. Nazarbayev, the president of Kazakhstan, attended the opening ceremony and delivered the keynote address. Other attendees of the Forum included winners of Nobel Prize in Economics, representatives from United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, UN Food and Agriculture Organization, executives of noted multinational corporations, and more than 3000 representatives of the political and business community, the academia and mass media.

On May 4, Mr. Miao Gengshu attended the session-“corporations and us: friends or enemies?”, and delivered an address on the subject of the practice of China’s “bring in” and “go global” strategies, the effects and problems caused by transnational corporations toward investment desitination countries.

During the Forum, Mr. Miao Gengshu attended the welcoming banquet of the IV Astana Economic Forum on invitation, and met with Karim Masimov, the prime minister of Kazakhstan. Mr. Miao also visited the Kazakhstan Office of Huawei Technoligies Co., Ltd., which is one of the member companies of CCIIP.
