The visit of Chinese scholars specialized in Tibetan studies has great significance as it provided an opportunity for Chileans to know better about Tibet, director of the delegation said Tuesday.
Hao Shiyuan, who is also the deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said most scholars of his delegation come from Tibet.
Joaquin Montes, director for the Asia-Pacific Department of the Chilean Foreign Ministry, said the Chinese scholars introduced a modern Tibet to Chileans in a vivid and comprehensible way and enhanced their understanding about the region.
The Chinese scholars have held seminars on the history, culture and economic development of Tibet at the Presidential Palace, the Foreign Ministry and universities in Chile.
The delegation, which arrived in Chile on Monday, has visited Mexico and is scheduled to visit the Chilean parliament.
